The term "foodie" was coined in 1981 by Paul Levy and Ann Barr, who in 1984 published their book "The Official Foodie Handbook". Since then, this tourist-culinary phenomenon has spread throughout the world, particularly in recent years thanks to the current interest in issues related to food.
